Pool water calculator

Pool gallon calculator

Enter your pool dimensions to see roughly how many gallons it holds and what a delivered fill costs at our standard rate. Then order the water and skip the three-day hose.

Your pool

Shape

For a pool with one constant depth, put the same number in both depth fields.

Estimated volume

22,000gal

Rounded up to the next 1,000 gallons, which is how water is ordered.

Estimated water cost

$8,800

At the standard $400 per 1,000 gallons. Large volume deliveries qualify for a discount, so your quote may come in lower.

How the math works

Rectangular pools

Length x width x average depth x 7.5 = gallons. The 7.5 converts cubic feet to gallons.

Round pools

Diameter x diameter x average depth x 5.9 = gallons. The smaller multiplier accounts for the circular area.

Oval pools

Length x width x average depth x 5.9 = gallons, treating the oval like a flattened circle.

We fill pools all over Sevier County, from new gunite builds in Sevierville to rental pools in Pigeon Forge and chalet pools above Gatlinburg, and we run west to Knoxville and Maryville for scheduled fills. See how pool water delivery works.

Common questions

How many gallons is my pool?
For a rectangular pool, multiply length by width by average depth, then by 7.5. A 16 by 32 foot pool with an average depth of 5 feet is roughly 19,200 gallons. Round pools use diameter squared times average depth times 5.9.
What is average depth?
Add the shallow end depth and the deep end depth and divide by two. For a pool that runs 3 feet to 8 feet, average depth is 5.5 feet.
How much does it cost to fill a pool with delivered water?
Water is $400 per 1,000 gallons with discounts on large volume deliveries, so a 15,000 gallon pool is about $6,000 at standard rate. Send the dimensions and we quote the exact gallons before the truck rolls.
Should I fill a pool with a garden hose instead?
A garden hose moves roughly 500 gallons an hour, so a 15,000 gallon pool takes about 30 hours of continuous running, and on a private well it can pull the well down and burn out the pump. A tanker fills it in one visit.
How accurate is this calculator?
It is a close estimate based on the numbers you enter. Irregular shapes, tanning ledges and spa spillovers change the total, so we confirm the gallons on site and only bill what we deliver.
